Difference Between Marine Electric Motor and Ordinary Electric Motor

The difference between marine Electric motors and land electric motors
Some marine electric motors have high explosion-proof requirements because there is flammable gas in the engine room, so the shell of marine electric motors is relatively complicated;
The enclosure protection level (IP56/IP66)) of the marine electric motor should be higher, because there may be large waves in the engine room, so the higher protection level can meet the requirements of the marine environment;
The marine power supply system is generally 440V voltage, so the marine electric motor is basically a 440V motor. Most marine motors are 440V 60Hz, while common motors are 380V, 50Hz power.
The marine electric motor must be resistant to moisture and corrosion. The wet motor has a higher insulation level, which can prevent the environment of the marine motor from corroding and damaging the motor;
Compared with ordinary electric motors, marine electric motors have good air tightness, and moisture is not easy to penetrate into the internal windings of the motor;
Marineelectricmotors operating on deck are very demanding. The motor is directly impacted by heavy rain and sea waves, so it requires a high degree of protection (IP56, IP66, etc.). In addition, salt spray is highly corrosive to the motor casing or insulating layer, and protective materials that cannot meet the requirements cannot be used. The certifications of various classification societies around the world place requirements on ship inspections of marine standards and marine equipment.
